The A36 has been closed by police in both directions this morning, following what is being described as a ‘serious incident’ involving a fallen tree and power cables near Woolverton.

The road has been closed between between the A366 Farleigh Road and the A361 (Beckington Roundabout).

Local diversions have been set up by Highways England.

The closure is affecting traffic between Bath and Frome, Warminster and Trowbridge.

Due to the severity of the incident, involving the fallen tree and power cables, police say the road could remain closed for some time.

Another incident on the A36 earlier this morning near Branch Road is also being dealt with by the emergency services.
