The meeting, which featured an eight-race card, also included a double for jockey Jack Doughty.

No More Bolero, a 100/30 shot trained by James Owen at Newmarket, Suffolk, and ridden by Saffie Osborne, was a three-and-half-length winner of the opening race, The Blackmore Build And Design Handicap Stakes (Class 5).

Second in the contest over two miles, one furlong and 24 yards was Lusaka (7/1), trained near Bridgend, South Wales, by John Flint and Rhys Flint and piloted by Millie Wonnacott.

The second race, The Blackmore Building Contractors British EBF Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes (Class 4) over five furlongs and 10 yards, produced a victory for favourite Ziggy Sunshine.

Handled by Dr Richard Newland and Jamie Insole near Droitwich Spa in Worcestershire and ridden by Doughty, the 15/8 fancy got home by a neck from runner-up Seed Ya Later (10/1) from Jack Channon’s yard near Newbury, Berkshire, and with Edward Greatrex aboard.

Carroll, whose stables are near Pershore in Worcestershire, opened his account on the evening by masterminding success for Justcallmepete (13/2) in the third race, The MJ Church Handicap Stakes (Class 4) over five furlongs and 160 yards.

Under jockey Dougie Costello, the seven-year-old took the honours by two-and-a-quarter lengths from second-placed Strike (10/1), sent out by Jonathan Portman (Upper Lambourn, Berkshire) and with Rob Hornby in the saddle.

Race four, The Wight Event Toilets Hire Handicap Stakes (Class 4) over five furlongs and 160 yards, was won by Marcellinus (7/2).

Trained by Tom Dascombe at Upper Lambourn and with Pierre-Louis Jamin on board, Marcellinus prevailed by two lengths from runner-up Red Snapper (12/1), under the care of Kathy Turner (Sigwells near Sherborne) and steered by Laura Coughlan.

The one-mile fifth race, The Unibet Supports Bath Racecourse Restricted Maiden Stakes (Class 4), was won by three and three-quarter lengths by 1/5 favourite Ourbren for Upper Lambourn-based handler JS Moore. Hornby rode.

Second was Channon’s Tough Date (9/2), with George Bass in the irons.

Channon and Bass went one better in race six, The Silvershine Turf Services Handicap Stakes (Class 5) over one mile, as Silver State (8/1) achieved victory by four lengths from second-placed Armstrong, the 100/30 favourite from George Boughey’s yard at Newmarket and teamed with David Probert.

The penultimate contest, the one-mile Try Unibet’s New Racing Betbuilder Handicap Stakes (Class 6) Division One, gave Carroll and Doughty their second triumphs of the fixture.

With Doughty aboard, Carroll’s Galaxy Wonder, the 5/6 favourite, won by two-and-a-quarter lengths from second-placed Oasis Sunrise (15/2). The runner-up, ridden by Hollie Doyle, is trained by Grace Harris at Shirenewton, Monmouthshire.

There was also success for the favourite in the closing race – the one-mile Try Unibet’s New Racing Betbuilder Handicap Stakes (Class 6) Division Two.

Eutropia, the 5/2 favourite partnered by Greatrex, won a neck for trainer Adrian Wintle (Rodley, Gloucestershire) from runner-up Havana Tobouggaloo (15/2).

Havana Tobouggaloo was prepared by Zoe Hawkins near Cullompton in Devon and was ridden by Osborne.

On an evening when conditions ranged from rain and fog to sunshine, going was good to firm (good in places), changing to good after the first race and changing to good to soft after the fourth contest.

The next meeting at Bath is the Spring Afternoon Racing fixture on Monday 27th April.
