Going was firm at the Lansdown track, whose first contest – the BetWright Bet The Wright Way Handicap (Bath Summer Stayers’ Series Qualifier) over one mile and five furlongs – produced a locally trained winner.

Callum Hutchinson rode 13/2 shot Man Of The Sea to victory by three-quarters of a length for handler Neil Mulholland, whose yard is at Conkwell near Limpley Stoke.

Second race of the evening was the one-mile Ryano Plant Limited Equestrian Construction Handicap. With Taylor Fisher in the saddle, Sant Alessio – from Joe Tickle’s stables at Stoodleigh in Devon – took the honours by two lengths at 11/2.

Next up was the BetWright Bangers N’Cash EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes over five-and-a-half furlongs. Clive Cox, from Lambourn in Berkshire, saddled winner Justcallmesergio, who was piloted by Rob Hornby and sent off at 5/1. The winning distance was two-and-a-quarter lengths.

The fourth race, the five-and-a-half-furlong BetWright All Bun & Games Handicap, saw victory by one-and-three-quarter lengths for Moe’s Legacy (15/8), partnered by Trevor Whelan and trained by Ron Harris at Earlswood in Monmouthshire.

Whelan also experienced success in the next race, the Weatherbys Stallion Book Handicap over five-and-a-half furlongs. This time he was aboard 4/1 chance Secret Handsheikh – from John Gallagher’s yard at Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire – who won by a head.

The closing BetWright Safer Gambling Handicap (Bath Summer Sprint Series Qualifier), over five furlongs, was won by three-quarters of a length by favourite Cindy Lou Who at 11/10. Cindy Lou Who was ridden by William Carson for handler Tony Carroll, who is based at Cropthorne in Worcestershire.

The racing was complemented by Caribbean food and drink on sale, and reggae being performed live.

Bath’s next meeting is its Summer Midweek Racing fixture on Wednesday 3rd September. Tickets are available here.
