Bristol outfit Whitchurch romped to a 5-0 success at the Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park, establishing a 3-0 advantage in the opening 37 minutes, to condemn the Romans to their heaviest defeat of the campaign.

Hannah Gillett handed the travellers a fifth-minute lead and Emily Plummer made it 2-0 seven minutes later.

Plummer doubled her tally eight minutes before the interval, pouncing on an error by Eve Trivett.

The score became 4-0 in the 65th minute, Xanthe Taylor on target, and Gillett secured her double when she completed Whitchurch’s nap hand three minutes from the end.

The Romans will have a chance of swift revenge over Whitchurch as the teams will meet in the return at South Bristol Sports Centre on Sunday 26th April (2pm).

Bath City Women Development raced to a 4-0 victory at bottom side Middlezoy Rovers Ladies on Sunday 19th April in Somerset County Women’s League Division One.

Among the scorers in a game that was switched to Bridgwater College were Liberty Goater, Hari Sabic and substitute Tanya Wright.

The young Romans will next be in action on 26th April, when they are on league duty against Nailsea United Women at Peasedown St John Recreation Ground (2pm).

All of the goals came in the first half as Somerset County Women’s League Division Two champions Odd Down Women recorded a 2-1 victory at Street Women on 19th April.

The Down were given a guard of honour by the Cobblers as they arrived on the pitch before the start of the match at the Tannery Ground.

Olivia Brain and Kira Macer struck for the winners, who will complete their excellent campaign by visiting Portishead Town Ladies A on 26th April (2pm).

Brain and Emmie Hawkes shared Odd Down’s player-of-the-match award for their efforts against Street.
