Plans revealed to convert upper floors of buildings into 10-bed HMO

St John’s Foundation has unveiled plans to turn the upper floors of two neighbouring properties in the centre of Bath into HMO accommodation.

The upper floors could be converted into an HMO

The proposals submitted to Bath & North East Somerset Council are for planning and listed building consent to convert the first to third floor levels of 15 and 16 Westgate Street into a 10-bedroom, 10-person house of multiple occupation.

The upper floors of No 15 are currently three flats and at No 16 they are vacant space.

The scheme includes making an opening between two Grade II listed properties at first-floor level.

The council has policies to protect neighbourhoods from being swamped by HMOs.

This application says the proposals would not result in a residential property being “sandwiched” between two HMOs, nor result in 10% or more of households within a 100-metre radius being HMO accommodation.

Anyone wishing to comment has until the 5th May deadline. The planning reference is 24/01060/FUL.
