Ben Howlett, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Bath, met with the newly elected Conservative West of England Mayor last weekend, speaking about plans for the new A36/46 link road.
In his first meeting since being elected to the post, Tim Bowles spoke with Ben about his plans for Bath including the next step in progressing the A36-46 link road, the feasibility study.
Speaking about the meeting, Ben said: “It is fantastic to have Tim Bowles as West of England Mayor and to have his full backing of the A36-46 feasibility study.
“I am committed to ‘Stopping Bath Stalling’ and have taken every opportunity over the last two years as the Member of Parliament for Bath to lobby the Government and B&NES for support of this project and have received backing from the Prime Minister as well as many in the Department for Transport and Highways England.
“With the backing of the new West of England Mayor, I hope to secure the feasibility study.’
Tim Bowles, the newly elected West of England Mayor, said: “It was good to meet Ben on my first weekend being mayor and hear about all the work he has done to get the A36-46 link road project to where it is today.
“I am already investigating the feasibility study for the link road to help alleviate the congestion and air pollution in Bath. I will also work with Ben if re-elected on June 8th to ensure a clean air zone is fully investigated for the city.
“It is clear to me from the meeting with him that Ben is the man with the right vision for Bath.”
