The Leader of B&NES Council is to announce his Cabinet’s core aims and priorities for the area when the new administration holds its first Cabinet meeting on Wednesday 8th July.
Cllr Tim Warren will officially unveil details of how the Cabinet plans to achieve its goals at the meeting in the Guildhall, Bath, which will also be webcast live from 4pm via the Council’s website.
The new Cabinet’s three core aims are to ensure that Bath & North East Somerset Council is a Council which:
- is efficient and well-run;
- invests in the future of the area; and
- puts the interests of residents first.
Cllr Tim Warren (Conservative, Mendip), Leader of the Council, said: “At the heart of our proposals is a firm commitment to putting the interests of our communities at the forefront of everything we do, and engendering a ‘residents first’ philosophy throughout the Council as a whole.
“Our new administration will work with local businesses to support the delivery of new jobs.
“We will step up support to help our communities grow, providing services that enable them to do more for themselves.
“We will also support the individuals who need our help earlier – with the aim of preventing problems becoming worse.
“Working in this way will allows us to be more effective, make best use of taxpayers’ money and build the foundations for growth and prosperity.”
In addition to its core aims, the Cabinet has also identified six more detailed priorities which are to be the main areas of focus for the new administration:
- Tackle waste and increase efficiency;
- Deliver new homes and jobs;
- Improve local transport;
- Invest in our area’s young people;
- Support cleaner, greener and healthier local communities;
- Promote greater choice and independence for older people.
