Ben Howlett, the MP for Bath, recently used Treasury Questions in the House of Commons to urge David Gauke, the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, to provide sufficient funds to construct a new A36-A46 link road in Bath.
Speaking in the Chamber, Ben said: “The Government are investing in major infrastructure projects, including Heathrow airport, HS2 and, I hope, a new A36-A46 link road through my constituency.
“What is my right hon. Friend doing to ensure that we provide sufficient funds so that this work can be conducted in a timely fashion?”
As part of Ben’s campaign to ‘Stop Bath Stalling’, he has been campaigning for the construction of an A36/46 Link Road. Cars and heavy polluting HGVs keep using Bath as a roundabout and it’s believed a link road would take these out of the city, improve Bath’s air quality and reduce congestion.
Last year Ben Howlett called on the city’s residents to sign a petition calling for an A36/A46 link road.
Letters have been delivered to homes across Bath including a form which can be signed and posted to Ben’s Westminster Office, backing his call for a new bypass.

After leaving the Chamber, Ben said: “Bath residents will know that I have long been calling for the construction of an A36-A46 Link road to reduce congestion and improve Bath’s air quality.
“Though this is a long process I continue to keep up the pressure on Government to deliver this. I would urge all residents to visit my website, download the petition and send it back to me.”
