After five years of lobbying, Peasedown councillor Nathan Hartley has secured £18,000 from the Highways Department to install a pedestrian crossing-island in Orchard Way.
The island is to be located in-between the junctions of Russet Way and Underleaf Way.
Nathan said: “I’m grateful to all the residents who have asked me for this to be installed over the years.
“It’s taken a while, but the £18,000 is now finally going to be spent on making sure crossing this part of the road is much safer.
“Large parts of Peasedown St John are used as regular walk routes to and from the local shops, and to our surrounding countryside for daytime and weekend walks.”
Bath and North East Somerset’s Highways Department are scheduled to install the island in January 2015.
