There are now plans to turn a vacant church in the city centre into offices.

The former Spiritualist church in Bath

A planning application for Bath First National Spiritualist Church has been submitted to Bath & North East Somerset Council by property marketing company Snappy 360 Ltd.

The church, which has been vacant since the start of September 2024, is part of a Grade II listed building in Old Orchard Street.

The scheme involves changing the use of the lower ground and ground floor from a place of worship to offices.

Last year, the same company was granted permission and listed building consent, following some revision of the initial plans, for alterations to convert the ground and first floors into a one-bed flat and a two-bedroom flat, including adding a single-storey rear extension, and general repairs.

The upper floors of the property are understood to be in residential use.

The planning reference is 26/00004/FUL, and the deadline for comments is 26th February.
