The Bath club finished in seventh place in the 12-team division last season – but 2025-26 is set to see an improvement.

Secretary Richard Griffin said: “It’s exciting times at Oldfield as we have appointed two new coaches [Lee Dixon and Jason Humphries] for this year and a raft of former homegrown youth players are just starting to break through the ranks.”

Oldfield open their term in the Level 8 division at South Bristol club Imperial on Saturday 6th September.

Their first home game brings St Bernadette’s Old Boys, another Bristol side, to Shaft Road on Saturday 13th September.

The longest trip of the season will take Oldfield to Minehead Barbarians on Saturday 27th March.

Oldfield’s league fixtures in full:

  • September: 6th Imperial (A), 13th St Bernadette’s Old Boys (H).
  • October: 4th Clevedon (A), 11th Keynsham 2nd XV (H), 18th Burnham-on-Sea (A).
  • November: 8th Chew Valley 2nd XV (H), 22nd Avon (A), 29th Minehead Barbarians (H).
  • December: 6th Castle Cary (A), 13th Hornets 2nd XV (H), 20th Rebels Rugby (A).
  • January: 10th St Bernadette’s Old Boys (A), 17th Clevedon (H), 24th Keynsham 2nd XV (A).
  • February: 14th Burnham-on-Sea (H), 28th Chew Valley 2nd XV (A).

  • April: 11th Hornets 2nd XV (A), 18th Rebels Rugby (H), 25th Imperial (H).

Oldfield 2nd XV will compete in Counties 4 Tribute Ale Somerset North during 2025-26. Their programme will get under way on Saturday 4th October with the visit of Imperial 2nd XV.

Humphries said: “We’re a friendly, community-based club, with a warm welcome extended to anyone graduating from age-grade rugby, relocating to Bath for work or university and trying to find a club, or for individuals looking to lace up the boots again after a sabbatical.”

Pre-season training commenced last week. For more details about coming along to training and joining Oldfield, email Lee Dixon at [email protected], Jason Humphries at [email protected] or club captain Ben Lansdown at [email protected].

The 1st XV will compete in the Korev Bath Combination 7s at Midsomer Norton on Saturday 2nd August.

The following Saturday, Oldfield 1st XV and 2nd XV will visit Frome for friendly action.
