People who use home care services provided by B&NES Council and the local NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) are being asked what they think of proposed changes to these services.
Home care support is provided to many people across Bath & North East Somerset who need help to look after themselves due to illness, accident, disability, or because they are getting older and more frail.
Those who are eligible receive home care services paid for by B&NES Council and CCG.
Following extensive discussions with those who receive care at home, family members, carers, home care agencies and the NHS; the Council and CCG are carrying out a review of the services to see how improvements can be made.
The council and CCG are developing proposals for a new model of delivering home care, which aims to make sure people get the right level of care to meet their needs and which helps home care providers work together better with people who use services,
They now want to hear people’s views on the proposals.
Councillor Vic Pritchard, Cabinet Member for Adult Care, Health and Wellbeing said: “People have told us they want to retain their independence and stay living in their own homes for longer, but they want flexible care that works around their changing needs and what they’ve got going on in their lives.
“We also want to introduce an ‘approved’ provider system with home care agencies working more closely with the council and CCG.
“These proposed changes will help shape future home care services so it’s really important that people let us know what they think.”
