The B&NES Health and Wellbeing Board will hold its next meeting in Keynsham on Wednesday, 22nd July, when it will discuss progress on a number of key local health issues.
The Board will hear about work being undertaken locally on issues such as sexual health and substance misuse.
It will also be discussing the work being done by the Local Safeguarding Children Board, which works to ensure that young people are kept safe and protected from harm.
This includes raising awareness of child sexual exploitation and developing support for young people who are at risk.
The role that our local economy plays in people’s health and wellbeing will also be up for discussion and there will be an update on how Council and other organisations are delivering on their responsibilities to protect residents against a range of threats and hazards, such as infectious diseases.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the Health and Wellbeing Board meeting, which will take place from 2pm-4pm in the Community Space at the Civic Centre, Keynsham.
Cllr Vic Pritchard, Council Cabinet member for Adult Social Care and Health (Conservative, Chew Valley South), is the new Co-Chair of the Board.
He said: “It is really positive to hear about the progress we are making on areas like this and the work we’re doing to ensure good health and wellbeing for local people.
“As new Co-Chair of the Board, I am keen that we learn from and build on this good practice as we move forward over the next four years.”
Dr Ian Orpen, Clinical Chair of NHS Bath and North East Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group (BaNES CCG) and fellow co-chair of the Board said: “I am looking forward to co-chairing the Board with Cllr Pritchard.
“The CCG and the Council have a long tradition of working in partnership to provide the best possible care and health services for local people.
“We need to ensure that NHS and Council services work even more closely together in the future and the Health and Wellbeing Board is key to making this happen.”
The Board will also welcome a number of other new members including: Council Leader Cllr Tim Warren (Conservative, Mendip); Cllr Michael Evans, (Conservative, Midsomer Norton North) Cabinet Member for Children’s Services; Morgan Daly from Healthwatch B&NES, and Nikki Luffingham from NHS England.
