Guide dog Annie has been delighted to receive a cheque for £5,000 on behalf of Guide Dogs from Bath-based housing and support organisation, Curo.
Colleagues and customers raised the fabulous funds as a result of their charity of the year partnerships with the Guide Dogs charity which came to an end recently.
Donna Baddeley, Curo Executive Director of Corporate Services, said: “We were introduced to the Guide Dogs charity through a colleague whose wife has benefited from their services, following a debilitating condition which affected her sight.
“We’re so pleased to have reached our £5,000 fundraising target thanks to the many generous colleagues, customers and businesses who have contributed time and cash over the year.
“This £5,000 will make it possible for Guide Dogs to raise and train a new guide dog. We’re all hoping we can name it Curo!”
Sarah Knox, Community Fundraiser for the charity added: “We are grateful to Curo for their enthusiastic support and this much appreciated cheque. Every penny will help another person who is blind or partially sighted get out and about and do the things many of us take for granted.
As a result of Curo raising £5,000 for the charity, they will now be able to name a guide dog puppy.
Once the puppy is born they will receive a birth certificate and photograph and they will hear about the puppy’s progress through regular pupdates whilst the pup is being puppy walked by a volunteer.
The very special pup will also visit Curo in a few months’ time.
If you are interested in the name a puppy scheme, and can help Guide Dogs to raise the vital funds needed to help them in their mission to help more blind and partially sighted people gain greater mobility and independence, contact Sarah Knox on 01189 838756 or email [email protected].
The charity need your help, without your time and donations they wouldn’t exist- the guide dog service receives no government funding.
