Avon Fire and Rescue crews have been tackling a large blaze at a house in Vernon Terrace on the Lower Bristol Road in Bath.
Emergency services received reports of the fire at 2.48pm. A team of firefighters are currently putting out the blaze.
Local residents saw plumes of black smoke pouring out from the house from across the city.
The fire service received a series of 999 calls and on arrival smoke and flames could be seen coming from upper floors.
Six fire engines, a turntable ladder and command units are currently at the the scene.
Firefighters used water jets from the ground and the turntable ladder to bring the blaze under control.
The fire has caused extensive damage to the roof of two homes which have both collapsed.
Due to the extent of the damage crews have been unable to enter the homes.
The road is partially blocked by emergency vehicles and traffic is being directed past the scene.
Nobody has been hurt. The cause of the fire will be investigated.
