Mums were full of praise for the Health and Beauty students who gave them a pampering spa day to remember at City of Bath College.

The lucky ladies were treated to a one-hour Swedish full body massage, facial, cut and blow dry, and full use of the spa facilities, including the sauna, steam room and hot tub.

The special ‘Spoil Mum this Mother’s Day’ package also included a two-course lunch at The Shrubbery, prepared and served by Catering and Hospitality students, and a bouquet of flowers, courtesy of Floristry students.

Mother and daughter Diane Shearn and Katie Rolfe of Bath bought each other the spa day package as a Mother’s Day present.

Diane said quality of the treatments at The Academy were on a par with top hotel spas in and around Bath.

She said: “It was perfection; I couldn’t find a single fault with the service I received.

“The students knew exactly what to do and the treatments left me feeling amazingly relaxed.

“I’m going to tell all my friends about the spa, it’s a hidden gem but I want everyone to be able to experience it.”

Jenny Knight, a mum-of-one and grandmother-of-two, said her and her twin sister bought the Mother’s Day spa package as a treat to themselves.

She said: “It was a very, very good day; the service was lovely and the students were just so friendly.

“The spa day was a real treat and it made me feel so mellow and relaxed. I just couldn’t resist when I saw it advertised.”

Jenny, from Bath, said she hadn’t been to the College spa for about four years, but she’d “definitely be returning again soon.”

The Academy’s Mother’s Day spa day cost just £40 and similar packages are held throughout the year at the spa in the Roper Building on James Street West.

The College’s Academy Hair, Beauty Studios and Spa is a full-service facility open to the public from Mondays to Fridays.
