Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for help to trace a man who flagged them down to report that a parking enforcement officer was being verbally abused in the street near an infants’ school in Bath.
Officers were patrolling in Bath at around 9am on Thursday 2nd March when they were stopped at the junction of Lower Bristol Road and Dorset Close.
The parking enforcement officer was issuing a ticket on a car parked in the school clearway outside Oldfield Park Infants School when he was verbally abused and sworn at by two teenagers from the vehicle and the woman driver, in front of young children.
he suspect vehicle was driven away as the situation was being explained to officers by the member of the public. A woman is due to be voluntarily interviewed by officers in relation to the incident.
Neighbourhood PCSO Kim Tanner said: “The individuals involved in this incident used some offensive language in sight and hearing of families with young children.
“Parking issues around schools are often made a priority by local communities. It’s completely unacceptable for a parking enforcement officer to be abused while working to make our roads safer.
“We’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, and especially the gentleman who flagged us down to express his concern.”
