A man was arrested in the early hours of Saturday 8th July, after members of the public reported seeing someone trying to break into shops in Bath.
The police were called twice between 5.30am and 5.45am by witnesses reporting seeing a man damaging shopfronts in the St James’ Square area and then in High Street, Weston.
A man was arrested shortly afterwards and later released pending further investigation.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Jon Raisey said: “I’d like to thank the members of the public who called us to report these suspicious incidents. Our investigations continue.
“I’d always ask people to call us straight away if they see criminal behaviour. Remember it’s 999 if there’s a crime underway or the suspect is still in the area.
“Otherwise ring the non-emergency number 101 – our staff are on hand 24/7.”
