Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for help from the public to trace a couple who were involved in a reported altercation on a street in Bath earlier this week.

Officers were called just after 10pm on Monday 7th August by a passer-by reporting seeing a young man and woman shouting at each other in Avon Street.

While the caller was on the phone a small blue car pulled up alongside the couple. Someone got out of the passenger seat and approached the couple, then all three were driven away in the car.

The caller was under the impression that the parties involved all knew each other, and initially thought the woman was drunk before becoming concerned that she may have been distressed.

She was described as white, slim, with mousey brown hair in a ponytail. The man was said to be white and slim, with short dark hair.

Officers have made initial enquiries to try to identify this couple. They’re now appealing for anyone who was in the Avon Street area of Bath at around 10pm on Monday 7th August to come forward – especially the couple or the occupants of the car.

Anyone who can help is asked to get in touch through the police website, or by calling 101, quoting reference 5217180784.
