A 17-year-old boy has been given a conditional discharge for assaulting a shop worker in Keynsham last summer, after appearing before the Youth Court in Bath.

The 17-year-old appeared before the court on Thursday 22nd February charged with assault.

The incident happened in the High Street on Wednesday 14th June 2017.

When a male shop worker asked a group of young people to move away from the shop doorway, he was struck on the head by one of the group, but not injured.

The court was told that since the incident the boy, who is from the town, has engaged with services and kept out of trouble.

He was ordered to pay £185 in costs and compensation and handed an eight-month conditional discharge, which means that if he commits another offence in that time, he will be given a sentence for the assault as well any the new conviction.
