Wessex Water has said it is continuing to carry out emergency water main repairs on the London Road in Bath, with work set to carry on over the weekend if necessary.

The company started work yesterday, 12th September, to repair a burst water main, near Bath Rugby’s training ground, and had initially hoped work would be completed today, Friday 13th September.

However, further repair work is now required, which will take place over the coming days.

To minimise disruption to motorists, the temporary lights that were in place have been removed so traffic can flow freely during this evening’s rush hour, in both directions.

Engineers will be working throughout the night to repair the damaged water main and, if necessary, over the weekend.

Some properties in Bath were left without water for a short period earlier today, but water supply has been restored.

A Wessex Water spokesman said: “We’re sorry for the disruption caused to motorists and for any noise local residents may hear while we carry out the repairs.

“We will do everything we can to complete the work as quickly as possible.”
