Winners of this year’s annual Fireworks Safety Poster competition announced

Children from 40 schools across Bath have entered this year’s Fireworks Safety poster competition, sponsored by Bath Building Society and supported by The Rotary Club of Bath.

The winners of the five categories were given a money voucher to open a Bath Building Society Account, a 51 piece art set and a Bath Building Society goody bag.

The winners are:

Age 4 – 5 years
1st: Auraya Rees, St Philip’s C of E Primary School
2nd:  Amy Wright, St Philip’s C of E Primary School
3rd:  Oscar Rogers, St John’s Primary School

Age 6 – 7 years
1st: Maisey Harwood, St Philip’s C of E Primary School
2nd: Herbie Addis-Power, St Mary’s R C Primary School
3rd: Rafael Estrella, St Mary’s R C Primary School

Age 8 – 9 years
1st: Emelia Joynt, Freshford C of E Primary School
2nd: Eliza Gardner, Swainswick Primary School
3rd: Sam Barton, St Phillip’s C of E Primary School

Age 10 years plus
1st: Tahlia-Lee Simmons, St Saviour’s C of E Primary School
2nd: Darcey Harding, Oldfield Park Junior School
3rd:Bella Robinson, The Royal High School

Special Schools
1st: Bradley Bau-Nicolls, Three Ways School
2nd: Bailey Rhodes, Three Ways School
3rd: Zeb Hickson, Three Ways School

The overall winner of the competition was Emelia Joynt from Freshford C of E Primary School.

The posters were judged on their Fireworks safety message and artistic merit. The judges for this year’s competition were: Councillor Ian Gilchrist the Mayor of Bath, Gareth Lloyd and John Brown from Avon Fire & Rescue Service, John Harney, the President of The Rotary Club of Bath and Dick Jenkins and Tiffany Hardie-Albutt from Bath Building Society.

All the children that entered the competition have been given a Free Child Voucher that can be exchanged for a ticket to the Display when purchasing an Adult ticket.

The Fireworks Display will take place on Saturday 4th November at The Recreation Ground and will be run by The Rotary Club of Bath and sponsored by Bath Building Society.

Tickets can be bought from all Bath Building Society branches, Bath Rugby Ticket Office, the Students’ Union at the University of Bath and the Bath Box Office Ticket Agency (Bath Tourism Office).

Standard Adult admission costs £5 if bought in advance, and £6 on the gate. Children’s tickets are £3 in advance and £4 on the gate.

All money raised at this year’s event will go to the headline charities Focus Counselling and Jessie May.
