One of Bath’s Two Tunnels, which has already been closed for three weeks because of a flooding problem, could be out of action for months.

The shared-use Two Tunnels Greenway connects Bath and the Midford Valley and is managed by the charity Sustrans.

The shorter of the tunnels has been closed since 4th January. Flooding was first noted before Christmas.

A Sustrans spokesperson said this week: “The team are working hard with partners to determine a timescale for reopening the Devonshire Tunnel but due to deep excavation work and a potential drainage collapse, it is likely that there will be a lengthy closure.”

The rest of the Greenway is open with a diversion via the footpaths in Lyncombe Vale, though these are not as accessible as the route itself.
