The World Cup may be taking place a few thousand miles away in Russia, but Bath’s football fans have been given the chance to take part in a mini version of their favourite sport.

Bath’s famous Royal Crescent Hotel has organised a World Cup Babyfoot tournament, kicking off later this month, with all proceeds going Bath Rugby’s charitable arm, the Bath Rugby Foundation.

The team at the hotel, based at Bath’s most well-known address, joined staff from Bath Rugby Foundation and Bath Rugby star, Freddie Burns, to launch the competition.

Businesses across Bath have been invited to enter a team or two, in return for a donation, to fight for the title of RCH Tattinger World Cup Babyfoot Champions.

The Royal Crescent’s Marketing Manager, Sarah Moon, said: “We are delighted to be supporting The Bath Rugby Foundation by holding a four day World Cup Babyfoot (table football) league in association with our long established brand partner Taittinger Champagne (official champagne sponsors of the World Cup 2018).

“With all money raised going direct to the foundation, we see this as a great opportunity to support their wonderful work and to host a fun event that the local business community can gather up teams of two people and allow their competitive side to take hold.

“We look forward to welcoming teams to The RCH and presenting some exciting Taittinger prizes to the league winners!”

Bath Rugby Foundation’s CEO, Lynne Fernquest, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the generous support of the Royal Crescent Hotel.

“We hope that Bath businesses will sign up to what will be a really enjoyable – and competitive – event.”

Matches will take place at The Sheridan Room at the Royal Crescent Hotel, from Monday, June 25, to Thursday, 28th June.

Teams can book a convenient time slot to play the 20-minute matches, between 12pm-2pm and 5pm-8pm.

There is a suggested donation of £50 (£25 per player), with all proceeds going to Bath Rugby Foundation. Bath Rugby Foundation is Bath Rugby’s charity and empowers vulnerable children and young people in Bath and North East Somerset to succeed.

The Foundation uses the values of rugby to inspire young people to create a healthier, positive future for themselves, focusing on improving Education, Employability and Inclusion.
