The Roman Baths has welcomed its 100,000th visitor since it reopened at the beginning of July following the coronavirus lockdown.
The Roman Baths was one of the first major attractions in the country to reopen its doors to the public on 6th July, with strict hygiene and physical distancing measures in place.
The historic venue was also one of the first visitor attractions in Bath to reopen, a significant step in welcoming visitors back to the city.
All booking has been carried out online and has allowed for no more than 30% of total capacity.
For much of July and August the available spaces have been fully booked but numbers have grown steadily and the 100,000 mark was reached on 6th October, exactly 13 weeks after reopening.
Councillor Paul Crossley, cabinet member for Community Services at Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: “It’s great that we have reached this milestone on our road to recovery.
“Although we have only been able to welcome 23% of the visitors we had over the same period last year, feedback has been hugely positive with particular mention made of the friendly and helpful staff and the safe environment we have created.
“We are on track to reopen Victoria Art Gallery and the Fashion Museum with the same safe procedures in place next March.
“Bath and North East Somerset residents can continue to gain free admission to the Roman Baths with valid proof of their address but must still book their visit online.”
In October, the Roman Baths are open from 10am – 6pm on Monday to Friday and 9am – 6pm on Saturday and Sunday; last entries are at 5pm.

Visitors to the Roman Baths are reminded to keep their distance and wash their hands regularly, as well as follow the safety procedures in place.
