A road in the centre of Bath was temporarily closed yesterday afternoon, Monday 9th March, after a vault underneath began to collapse.

Cracks began to appear in the road, due to the unstable vault below

St James’ Parade was closed to all traffic after significant cracks began to appear in the tarmac near the junction with Corn Street.

Two-way signals have now been put in place on the other side of the road by Bath & North East Somerset Council, enabling it to be reopened to traffic.

In a statement on social media, the local authority said it was “working with the property owner and will provide further updates”.
