Bath & North East Somerset Council is reassuring residents living in the Charlton Park area of Midsomer Norton about proposals to change the speed limits on a number of roads.
A previous consultation in 2015 indicated that opinions on speed restrictions in the area were split.
Since then, all roads in the Charlton Park area have been signed at 20 miles per hour. Following further feedback, under the new proposals, roads in the Charlton Park estate (including Boundary Close and Grange End) as well as The Timbers and Lyndhurst Road estate could have a speed limit of 20 mph whilst Charton Road itself could be 30 mph.
A spokesperson for the Council said: “We are currently consulting on the speed limits for these roads. At the moment almost all roads in and around the estate have speed limits of 20 mph and many will continue to be so.
“However, through-roads, for example Charlton Road, may be more suited to a 30 mph speed limit. We hope residents will look at the proposals for each of the roads and give us their views as part of the consultation process.”
The consultation will close on Thursday 27 April.
