Keynsham’s Pixash recycling centre will feature once again in the new series of BBC One’s ‘Money for Nothing’ when it begins next Monday, 6th June.
Production company Friel Kean Films spent two weeks filming at the site last summer, saving items and giving them a new lease of life by passing them onto talented artisans who transformed them into stylish and valuable pieces.
The items were then sold making money for residents who had no idea there was cash to be made from what they were throwing away.
The centre has become a favoured location of the production team, who have regularly filmed at the site over the past three years.
Previous items recovered from Keynsham and featured in the programme include an old writing bureau that once belonged to James Bond author Ian Fleming. It was subsequently turned into a cocktail cabinet.
Councillor David Wood, cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services, said: “One person’s trash is another’s treasure, and this really is a fantastic example of how unwanted items can be upcycled or repurposed with the use of a little imagination.
“Of course, taking to a recycling centre should always be a last resort and we’d encouraged people to offer reusable items first on freecycling networks.”
You can watch what happens to the saved items from Keynsham over the course of the new series of ‘Money for Nothing’ which starts on BBC One at 2.15pm on Monday 6th June.
