Plans to extend a nursing home in Southdown have been approved by Bath & North East Somerset Council.

Cedar Care’s The Orangery on Englishcombe Lane

Cedar Care has been granted planning permission for two single-storey extensions on either side of The Orangery in Englishcombe Lane.

The nursing home was originally a pub, The Englishcombe Inn, which closed in 2008 and at one time had as its landlord the comedy actor Graham Moffatt.

The Orangery cares for up to 40 people and supports those in need of general nursing care, as well as those living with dementia.

The proposed additions will provide further social facilities for the residents, and improve a number of the bedroom spaces as well as provide an additional en-suite bedroom.

The additions have been designed to be in keeping with the existing building.
