Blood cancer charity Bloodwise has announced that they have charity places available for next year’s popular Vitality Bath Half Marathon.

James, 31, from Bath took on the challenge to run the half marathon last year for Bloodwise in memory of his Uncle, Steve Hunter who passed away last September from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL).

James said: “Steve was an excellent club runner so his motivational tips and encouragement really inspired me to run the best race I could.

“His battle was far greater than my sub-90 minute target, so during the hard miles of the race his voice in my head ensured I finished in 1:29:48, and raised £1,100. Believe me, the pain was more than worth it!”

James added: “Bloodwise helped me promote my fundraising and every year around 16,000 runners raise well over £2 million for charity in the ‘Bath Half’.

“The course is fast and loops around one of the UK’s prettiest and most historic cities. Bath is my home, and the support on the day from thousands of spectators and live bands is genuinely superb and makes for a unique atmosphere.”

Emma Boffey Regional Fundraising Coordinator at Bloodwise, said: “We are constantly inspired by the stories of those fundraising for us and the dedication of our supporters like James.

“If you feel inspired by James and want to run in this event for Bloodwise in 2017, then sign up on our website.

“Every penny raised from it will help us in our mission to stop people from dying and make patients’ lives better.”
