A church in Peasedown St John is giving villagers the opportunity to celebrate and remember the lives of loved ones who have passed away.

During the week of All Souls Day, on Sunday 6th November at 2.30pm, St. John’s Church will be holding a special service.

During the event, the names of those who have died will be read out and there will also be an opportunity to light a candle for a loved one – along with quiet prayer and personal reflection.

The Leader of St John’s Church, Revd Matthew Street, said: “Bereavement is a painful experience. This act of worship aims to give thanks to God for the lives of our loved ones and to provide us with an opportunity to receive the comfort and healing we need when pain and sorrow is acute.

“Christ’s own words “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” are words which can indeed come true in our lives.

“I know that over the years the people who have come to this service have benefitted greatly. It’s helped them cope with their bereavement and to feel comforted.”

If anyone would like to have a name mentioned in the service, contact the Church Administrator Rob Bubyer on 07973 972018 or email [email protected] before Tuesday 1st November.

St John’s Church is part of the ‘St J’s Group’ Anglican benefice, which covers the parish churches of St John’s Peasedown, St Julian’s Wellow, St James’ Foxcote and St Julian’s Shoscombe and is named after three patron saints.
