Bath-based housing and support organisation Curo is inviting local residents to suggest names for the first new streets at the planned Mulberry Park development.

Local residents are invited to send their ideas, along with a brief explanation of the story behind their suggestions, their name and contact details by 10th June.

Ideas should be sent via:

Email: [email protected]
Twitter: @mulberrypkbath
Post: Mulberry Park street Names, Curo, The Maltings, River Place, Lower Bristol Road, Bath BA2 1EP.

Curo is building the first 275 new homes at Mulberry Park and the new roads and infrastructure are already taking shape.

The development, on the former Foxhill MOD site in Combe Down, will eventually include 700 homes, a primary school and community facilities alongside a park and woodland walk.

The first phase of the development will include a tree-lined avenue leading from Bradford Road to a new garden square, peaceful residential streets and mews terraces.

The Mulberry Park name was suggested by Bath resident Ken Cookes following an appeal for ideas by Curo.

‘Mulberry’ refers to Mulberry Harbours, temporary harbours designed in Bath by the Admiralty, which were used for the D-Day landings and which many view as one of the greatest engineering achievements of World War II.

Curo Chief Executive, Victor da Cunha, commented: “We’ve always had a fantastic response when we’ve asked colleagues and residents to suggest names before.  I’m sure that local people will bring us some inspiring and creative ideas.”

Once the ideas have been received, Curo will submit a shortlist of suggestions to B&NES Council for consideration.

The Council will take the final decision on street names and we will announce the new names during the Summer of 2016.
