The Circuit of Bath Walk has become an annual tradition for many and offers the opportunity to see the city like never before.
Currently in its 23rd year, the event is a 22-mile walk to raise money for Bath-based charity Julian House.
Their work supports rough sleepers and people experiencing homelessness, domestic abuse, refugee resettlement and more.
This year’s event will take place on Sunday 22nd September 2024, sponsored by Achieve Breakthrough, who will also be tackling the walk.
Emily Wright, from Achieve Breakthrough, said: “Taking on a challenge you don’t know how to accomplish is the whole spirit and ethos of our company.
“The energy, confidence and self-belief the Circuit of Bath Walk gives you is amazing, and we’re thrilled to be involved again.”
Over 500 people took part last year, including Jess Martin from Element Recruitment, who said: “While it was hard work it was also great fun. Not only were we raising awareness for Julian House but it was a great team-building activity for us.
“I highly recommend it to anyone interested in challenging themselves and looking to support a fantastic cause.”
Bath resident Kirsty Eastham has taken part four times. She said: “It just gets better and more enjoyable every year. The organisation is impeccable in every respect and everyone taking part seems to be having a great time! What’s not to love?”
Walkers set off either clockwise or anti-clockwise and take in spectacular views across Bath, including the vistas from Little Solsbury Hill and South Stoke Millennium Viewpoint.
The charity is encouraging people to tackle the full 22-mile route, although participants can choose their own distance and start point, thanks to the five checkpoints along the route and a free taxi service between each.
For a gentler, less strenuous stretch more suitable for younger families, the canal walk from Bathampton to Limpley Stoke is a particular highlight.
Community and Events Fundraiser Gavin Osborn said: “The Circuit of Bath Walk is an important event for everyone of all ages.
“Participants not only get an incredible sense of achievement, but also the knowledge that the sponsorship they raise will help rebuild lives.
“By taking part, you are enabling us to support at-risk people in our emergency hostel and domestic abuse refuge. You will be helping to save lives.
“Despite incredible generosity from supporters, we are not immune to the rising cost of living. Signing up helps us maintain our many projects, accommodation sites and social enterprises across Bath and beyond.
“We hope people will raise as much as they can, knowing that every penny goes towards helping support vulnerable people in our care.”
