Visitors will be able to warm up with a hot chocolate or mulled wine from the pop-up bar beside the Great Bath, make a Roman-style decoration at the family craft session, or shop for Christmas presents with a Roman or Georgian flavour in the Roman Baths Shop.

The Pump Room Restaurant will offer a variety of seasonal dining options, from Festive Evening Dining by Candlelight to takeaway ‘Stew in a Box’ from the Christmas Market chalet.

Councillor Kevin Guy, Leader of Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: “Bath has a wonderful atmosphere in the run-up to Christmas, with the famous Christmas Market and Christmas Light Trail turning the city centre into a magical winter destination.

“The Roman Baths and Pump Room will be no exception, with an array of festive things to see and do, eat and drink.”

Pop-up bar at the Roman Baths

  • There will be a pop-up bar beside the Great Bath from 12pm to 5pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 25th November to 18th December. Soak up the atmosphere around the steaming Great Bath while you sip a hot chocolate, mulled wine, sparkling wine or soft drink.

Family activity: Seasonal Saturnalia

  • The Romans celebrated the festival of Saturnalia in December. Join us at the Roman Baths to make a special decoration.
  • Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th December, 11am to 2.30pm
  • Included in admission price.

The Roman Baths Shop

  • The Roman Baths Shop will stay open until 8pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 24th November to 10th December, giving shoppers more time to browse the selection of original gifts.
  • Choose from locally produced gin and rum, chocolate and biscuits, bathing and wellbeing products, children’s stocking fillers, Christmas decorations and much more.

Christmas Market food stalls

  • The Pump Room Restaurant’s traditional ‘Stew in a Box’ and ‘Mac in Box’ chalets will return to Bath Christmas Market again this year. Look out for them in Abbey Church Yard beside the Pump Room from 24th November to 11th December.

Festive evening dining by candlelight

  • Enjoy a chilled glass of Searcys Champagne on arrival, as you listen to the sounds of the resident Pump Room pianist. Feast on a delicious three-course meal, including dishes such as free-range roast turkey with apricot stuffing, and braised lamb shoulder with buttered mash. Finish off with a traditional Christmas pudding and brandy cream or try the apple tart tatin with cinnamon custard.
  • Saturday 10th to Friday 16th December
  • Bookings available at 6.45pm, 7pm, 7.15pm and 7.30pm
  • £50 per person.

Christmas afternoon tea

  • The Pump Room’s popular afternoon tea will be given a festive twist with the addition of miniature turkey and ham pies and sausage and cranberry rolls. Why not add a glass of fizz to celebrate the Christmas season?

New Year’s Eve Ball

  • After two years away, the Pump Room’s New Year’s Eve ball returns for a celebration to remember.
  • The evening begins with a drinks reception around the torchlit Roman Baths, followed by an indulgent four-course dinner with half a bottle of wine, and live music to dance the night away to.
  • Saturday 31st December, 7pm to 1.15am
  • £150.00 per person.

New Year’s Day lunch

  • Take a seat under the Pump Room’s brilliant chandelier with a glass of Champagne, served on arrival. Then immerse yourself in the sounds of the Pump Room Trio and resident pianist, as you enjoy a three-course lunch with all the trimmings.
  • Sunday 1st January
  • Sittings available at 12pm, 12.15pm, 12.30pm, 12.45pm and 1pm
  • £50 per person.
