People living in and around the village of Wellow are invited to an evening of Carols by Candlelight at St Julian’s Church, with residents being given the opportunity to explore the Christmas message.

The annual event will feature a traditional presentation of Nine Lessons, which will explore the Christmas message, as told in the Bible.

The service will be held completely under candlelight.

Local Vicar, the Revd Matthew Street said: “Carols by Candlelight includes readings from the Bible in an effort to explore the reason why we celebrate Christmas every year.

“This traditional occasion is ideal for the family in the run up to the festive season.”

Carols by Candlelight at St Julian’s Church in Wellow takes place on Sunday 17th December, starting at 6.30pm.

St Julian’s Church is part of the ‘St J’s Group’ Anglican benefice, which covers the parish churches of St John’s Peasedown, St Julian’s Wellow, St James’ Foxcote and St Julian’s Shoscombe and is named after the three patron saints.

For more details, visit the St J’s Group website, www.stjsgroup.church, which includes details of future events, the church’s work in the community, activities going on during the week and live recordings of Sunday sermons.
