The charity Keeping Abreast has a new volunteer-run Bristol & Bath Support Group and the first meeting is tomorrow, Thursday 1st February, in Keynsham.
Keeping Abreast (KA) offers support to all those facing or considering breast reconstruction following a breast cancer diagnosis, or the discovery of a hereditary breast cancer gene, as well as to their partners, families and friends.
The new support group is being run by KA volunteers Nic and Debi at The Key Centre in Charlton Road.
Tomorrow’s meeting, 1st February, is from 7pm to 8.30pm and you can just turn up.
Keeping Abreast was established in 2007 by patients Anna Beckingham and Beverley Birritteri and breast reconstruction nurse specialist Ruth Harcourt.
They recognised a great need for women, both newly diagnosed with breast cancer and facing the possibility of mastectomy, and also women further down the line who are also considering reconstructive surgery, to be able to meet and talk to others who have been through similar experiences.
This allows them to make an informed choice about whether or not to proceed with breast reconstruction.
