The B&NES Carers’ Centre is launching a new discount scheme as part of Carers’ Week, which will run from 11th to 15th June, as part of their ongoing campaign to support local carers.
Carers Week is an annual campaign highlighting the challenges carers face and recognising the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.
This year’s theme is “healthy and connected” to promote communities that support the health and wellbeing of carers, which is why the Carers’ Centre has chosen to launch the ‘Carer Friendly Banes’ scheme and the new carer discount card.
The scheme aims to support carers out in the community and make their day a little bit easier. Shopping, running errands or days out can be incredibly stressful for carers, whether they have the person they look after with them or not.
Local businesses have signed up to offer discounts and deals for carers who present a B&NES Carer Card.
The scheme currently has 35 local businesses signed up to help carers stretch the pound a bit further. Twenty of those are in Bath.
The businesses in Bath signed up include a range of attractions, beauty & therapeutic services, restaurants and shops. A full directory will be available at: www.banescarerscentre.org.uk/carercard

Anne-Marie Rose, of Bath business Rose Holistics, said: “I am keen to support carers in recognition for all their hard work and dedication to their caring role.
“I offer low cost reflexology sessions to allow carers an opportunity to take some time out from their caring duties, to focus on themselves and be nurtured in a calm and peaceful environment.”
Janine Woodward-Grant, Senior Development Manager at the Carers’ Centre, said: “We’re delighted that the 35 businesses signed up to the scheme have chosen to recognise and support those who care for others.
“The scheme is part of our vision to build carer friendly communities across the whole region, helping carers through the many challenges caring for a loved one can bring.”
Carers registered with the Centre are eligible for the card and can apply via phone, 01761 431 388, or on the website banescarerscentre.org.uk/carercard.
The scheme is growing and other businesses are encouraged to get involved to help make Bath & North East Somerset a more carer-friendly community.
