Local residents are being invited to join the Bath Abbey Choir on Friday 6th November at 7.30pm as they pay tribute to those fallen in the First World War, Second World War and all conflicts since.

Instead of the usual Remembrance Day concert in the Abbey, this year, the Abbey Choir conducted by Huw Williams, Bath Abbey’s Director of Music, will perform in a pre-recorded concert that will be made available online so that people can watch from their homes and remember the heroic service of the men and women who lost their lives for their country.

Huw Williams said: “This will be one of the rare occasions when the entire choir of Boys, Girls and Lay-clerks can be heard in concert in the Abbey.

“It is our hope that through music, we can bring people together and provide an opportunity to remember the dead, while offering some comfort and hope to those living.

“There will be a time set aside for prayers and thoughts of those who have gone before us, in particular those fallen from all wars. Please join us if you’re able to.”

At present, the Choir continues to adhere to Covid-19 safety measures with a reduced number of choristers singing together and reduced rehearsal times.

The concert will be pre-recorded and available to watch on Bath Abbey Choir’s webpage and the Bath Abbey Choir’s YouTube Channel.

The concert is free for all, however donations are invited and will go towards supporting the Abbey Choir and music.

The Abbey will be holding Remembrance Day services on Sunday 8th November at 10.15am (Eucharist) and 3pm (The Royal British Legion service). Congregation numbers at these services are currently limited to enable Bath Abbey to keep everyone as safe as possible.

To be sure of a seat, organisers advise you book in advance via Eventbrite.
