An appeal has been launched for walkers to take part in the Bath Marches event, a charitable fundraiser taking place this September.

Local charity Mentoring Plus is seeking walkers to raise money to support their work during the walk on 18th September.

The charity supports over 250 local young people each year with mentoring programmes, helping to inspire young people facing difficult challenges.

Their mentoring helps increase confidence, self-esteem and supports young people with mental health and wellbeing.

Due to the pandemic, there has been a surge in demand for their services.

Fundraising Manager Jenny Perez said: “We’ve teamed up with The Bath Marches, to raise much needed funds due to a lack of community events over the past year.

“We took part last year and it was a well-organised fun event. This year we’re aiming to have the biggest charity team there and hope adults, children and families will sign up to either the 9 mile or 15 mile walk.

Richard Best, from Iconic Events who organise the Bath Marches added: “We’re delighted to have charities like Mentoring Plus on board.

“This is our second year, this time featuring Max the Marcher, who is wearing a collection of period clothing representing the diverse military history associated with Bath.

“Max will be sharing with youngsters entertaining  but historically accurate stories of times gone by in Bath during the event.”

If you or someone you know is up for the challenge and wants to support a charity making a difference to the children and young people in the community, email [email protected] or visit mentoringplus.net to find out more and sign up.
