A team of five runners from the Apex hotel group have smashed their fundraising target and raised £2000 for the Bath Rugby Foundation, by taking part in the Bath Half Marathon.
The five members of staff from Apex Hotels took part in the Bath Half Marathon in aid of the local charity, raising £2,000 for the cause, more than their original fundraising target of £1,250.
Michael Musgrave, General Manager at Apex City of Bath Hotel and Phil Bailey, Group MICE Sales Manager who is also based at the Bath hotel, took on the challenge alongside colleagues Brian Tapson, General Manager at Apex City of London Hotel, as well as Robert Allan, Group Human Resources Director and Simon Davis, Group Operations Director.
Each of the team managed to complete the race in less than two hours and 20 minutes – with Apex City of Bath Hotel General Manager, Michael, completing the course in just one hour and 48 minutes.
Phil Bailey, Group Meetings Incentives Conference and Events Sales Manager at Apex City of Bath Hotel, said: “We’re all really proud to be over the finish line having raised hundreds of pounds more than we ever anticipated for a wonderful charity that we’ve supported since our hotel in Bath opened back in 2017.
“The training was tough and the race itself had difficult moments, but we all kept each other motivated – and I would be lying if I said there wasn’t a little bit of competitiveness between us at times.
“Our colleagues in Bath, and at our hotels across the UK, have been immensely supportive and have given generously to help us reach the £2,000 mark.”
