More than 30,000 people have signed up to take advantage of the benefits of the free Discovery Card scheme in the past year, Bath & North East Somerset Council has revealed.

The scheme, which was relaunched last June, offers residents free entry to the Roman Baths, Victoria Art Gallery, and Parade Gardens, as well as access to exclusive discounts at visitor attractions, restaurants, spas and other experiences across the region.

The Discovery Card is free to apply for and available to all residents of Bath & North East Somerset, including students at Bath’s two universities.

Councillor Kevin Guy, Leader of Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: “We’re proud to be able to offer our residents free entry to the world-class attractions in our care through the Discovery Card scheme.

“Last year more than 14,000 residents visited the Roman Baths for free.

“This access to local history and heritage is an important part of the council’s mission to improve local lives and is a unique benefit for our community.

“It’s a huge success to have signed up 30,000 residents in the first year of the new Discovery Card – but there’s still more to be done.

“We want every resident to be able to access and enjoy the benefits of the Discovery Card and would encourage anyone not yet subscribed to visit our website to sign up.”

Residents can sign up for a Discovery Card online at www.bathnes.gov.uk/discoverycard and then pick it up at a variety of locations across Bath and North East Somerset.

Cards can either be provided digitally to be displayed on a mobile device, or as a physical card which is recycled and recyclable.

Alongside free entry to heritage sites, Discovery Card holders can enjoy offers and discounts from more than 30 local businesses and organisations.

Highlights include the American Museum and Gardens, Bath Abbey, Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein, Avon Valley Railway, Thermae Bath Spa, and Bath Pizza Co in Green Park Station.

For more information on how to sign up, or become involved as a partner business, visit www.bathnes.gov.uk/discoverycard.
