Housebuilder Redrow South West has handed over £20,000 to local counselling charity We Hear You, following a year of fundraising by their employees.

Gemma Wilkes from WHY with Redrow South West’s managing director, Lee Hawker
Redrow South West have been supporting Frome-based counselling charity We Hear You (WHY) since 2016.
Over £20,000 was raised through a combination of employee donations, dress down days, cake sales and challenge events, including a kayaking challenge on the River Wye and entering a team into Tough Mudder 2018.
Fundraising and Communications Manager Gemma Wilkes said: “We never cease to be amazed at the energy, ingenuity and above all the generosity of Redrow South West.
“The engagement and enthusiasm of their staff is fantastic and provides us with invaluable income to help us reach the people in need of WHY’s service.
“I was delighted to receive a cheque for £20,248 in February, which will pay for 460 counselling sessions for children, young people or adults who are affected or bereaved by cancer or another life threatening condition.
“The support of corporate organisations such as Redrow South West is a vital part of our fundraising. It costs around £4,400 a week to provide our counselling service, so a donation of this size is just fantastic and a really significant contribution to our costs.”
Lee Hawker, managing director of Redrow South West, added: “We’re proud to be supporting We Hear You (WHY).
“We all know people whose lives have been thrown into turmoil by life threatening conditions and any service which helps people cope with such difficulties is one which should be cherished.”
