A popular play park in Peasedown St John is looking a lot cleaner thanks to a spring clean up last Saturday, led by local councillors Karen Walker and Nathan Hartley.
The team of residents collected more than 10 bags of rubbish from the Beacon Field area in the village.
Karen said: “We’ve organised other community clean ups over the years, and it’s always good to see residents joining in.
“People often feel a strong sense of pride and community spirit when they give up their time to do something for the area they live in.
“It’s surprising how much rubbish and debris can be found stuck in hedgerows and at the sides of community play areas.
“Beacon Field is now looking far more cleaner, and we are grateful to all the local residents who came out to help.
“The clean-up was one of many organised by the councillors over the last 10 years.”
Nathan added: “Karen and I both believe very strongly in community action and working with residents to help them make a difference in our village.
“Over the last few weeks, residents have contacted us about the excess amount of litter in and around the Beacon Field area and asked if we could do anything to help.”
Karen and Nathan are happy to join any residents who would like to clean up their street.
Litter pickers and black bags can be provided.
