‘What does home mean to me?’ That’s the question children from St Michael’s Junior School in Bath at an exhibition launched by housing and support organisation Curo.
The Arts Space exhibition, launched on 12th November, answered the question through a series of models, pictures and poems.
Curo Chief Executive Victor da Cunha said: “As part of national Housing Day, we wanted to highlight the importance of having a safe and secure home, so we asked the pupils of St Michael’s Junior School to create a model, poem or drawing showing what home means to them.
“We received a lot of brilliant entries and have had a difficult job choosing just 32 to display. Thanks to everyone who took part and told, through art and words, such powerful stories about our homes – the most important place in all our lives.”
Every pupil whose work is exhibited received a certificate from Victor da Cunha who also awarded first prize to McKenzie Clark for his model house, complete with cut-outs of mum, dad and Timzy the cat.
Five pupils received Highly Commended awards:
- Elle May Windridge
- Layla Price
- Geneve Purayil
- Joe Samios and
- Daniel Samios
