A popular shop in Bath has launched a fundraising appeal after a Dorothy House charity box was stolen from their counter last weekend.

Roman Candles on Terrace Walk in Bath is owned and managed by husband and wife team Helen and Steve Bennett.

Helen said: “We have supported Dorothy House, a local Hospice, since we opened in March 2011 and our customers are very generous so every so often we can deliver a full collection box to Dorothy House.

“This was so upsetting and I just don’t begin to understand how someone can steal charity donations destined for this fabulous organisation.

“We felt so guilty that we had not taken better care of the Charity Box but it just never crossed our minds that someone would steal it.

“We want to make up for the loss by trying to boost donations so have decided that Roman Candles will contribute to Dorothy House.”

To help raise funds for Dorothy House and replace the donations stolen from the charity box, £1 from every sale of their Roman Spa Candle (Roman Candles’ best-selling candle) over the period between Friday 20th June to Monday 23rd June will be donated to the charity.

Helen added: “We hope that this will go some way to replacing the money that was stolen.”
