With the dates announced for the 2017 Bath Christmas Market, organisers are now calling on local businesses to help spread its festive magic across the city once again.
If you are a local producer, now is your opportunity to join the South West’s most popular shopping event by applying for a chalet.
Bath Christmas Market is dedicated to assisting small, local crafts people and businesses. In 2016 85% of stallholders represented businesses from the South West, the majority of whom made their own high quality products.
If you are a local producer this is your chance to apply to trade from one of the 174 wooden chalets that will line the streets of Bath.
Bath Christmas Market attracts thousands of visitors and offers a fantastic opportunity to showcase your talents and boost your sales.
In 2016 total footfall to the market was 429,000 and spend within the market was an incredible £5.1 million.
A local business Four Legged Fancies, who participated in last years’ event, said: “Bath Christmas Market accounts for a third of all my trade for the whole year.
Our wholesale has doubled year after year and I really believe part of this is due to the sheer numbers of customers we meet at Bath.
In 2016 82.5% of stallholders reported that Bath Christmas Market offered new leads and business.
Appearing at Bath Christmas Market for the first time in 2016 Firewater Gallery, a Bath based company, said: “It is incredible for business, both in terms of immediate sales and the uptake afterwards for online and repeat orders.
“We made several important contacts that look likely to develop into significant new directions for our business.”
Bath Christmas Market is committed to supporting small local start-up businesses by providing them with a platform and opportunity to launch their business and test the market.
Organisers offer dedicated short term lets in Bath Street for 7 or 11 days to support small businesses that are unable to trade for the full 18 days.
Each year newcomers to the event comment on the sense of community and fun generated by being surrounded by hundreds of similarly dedicated stallholders, as well as so many enthusiastic visitors.
This leads to many stallholders who first appear at Bath Christmas Market on a 7 day let, return for a longer let the following year.
Appearing at Bath Christmas Market, a local chilli farming business Upton Cheyney Chilli said: “We enjoy repeat custom year on year, whilst at the same time being able to promote our farm and ensure our customers are aware of the events we hold and the various tours that we run.”
