The store at 13-15 Stall Street, where HMV was previously sited, opened on Monday 15th May, with 25 jobs created.
David Cox, the store’s manager, said: “We were very excited to welcome our first customers on Monday. I am particularly pleased that we are welcoming 25 new colleagues into our Tesco team.
“We will also be participating in the Tesco’s Community Grants scheme, which awards thousands of pounds every year to local good causes that can help the community to flourish.”
Community groups in Bath are invited to apply for funding through Tesco Community Grants, Tesco’s blue token voting scheme which sees three local projects voted on by customers in-store every three months, with first place awarded £1,500, second place £1,000 and third place £500.
The new Express store will also participate in the Community Food Connection scheme, which redistributes surplus food to charities and community groups from every Tesco store at the end of each day.
Since its launch in 2016, the Tesco Community Food Connection Scheme has donated more than 145 million meals to charities across the UK.
The scheme is run in partnership with food redistribution charity FareShare. Each month more than one million meals’ worth of food is donated across the country.
