Proposals for a new hotel, spa and restaurant in the centre of Bath have taken a step forward with the submission of a planning application to Bath and North East Somerset Council.

The Grade II* listed Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases (RNHRD) buildings, known locally as the ‘Min’, were acquired by the Fragrance Group last year and Bath-based architects Stride Treglown and a team of specialist consultants have drawn up plans to create a high-quality hotel, spa and restaurant.
NHS staff and services based at the RNHRD building are being transferred to new fit-for-purpose facilities at the RUH at Combe Park.
The Fragrance Group’s proposals were drawn up following extensive discussions with council planning and heritage officers, as well as Historic England, and went on show early in October, when the public were asked for their feedback.

“The feedback was very supportive of our overarching proposals to preserve and enhance these much-loved buildings.
“We have taken into account all of the comments from the public and other stakeholders and, as a result, we have refined our designs, primarily the appearance of a new extension to the rear of the West Wing.
“The proposals will secure the long-term future of the Royal Mineral Water Hospital buildings and also provide exciting new facilities for residents and visitors alike.”
