The popular Grillstock smokehouse in Bath has closed, after landlords of the branch in Brunel Square decided not to renew the lease for the restaurant.

The Grillstock chain had gone into administration back in November last year, but was bought out and continues to trade in Bristol.

The landlord decided not to renew the lease for the Bath site, with Grillstock Bath closing for good on Saturday 3rd February.

The branch in Bath opened in the Vaults area of the SouthGate shopping centre back in June 2014 and proved to be a popular destination, gaining many five-star reviews.

A statement from Grillstock said: “We are trying our best to get most of our stuff to take temporary jobs at our Bristol units, but unfortunately we’ll have to make some redundancies.

“We will hopefully find a new home in Bath, which we are looking for, so we hope to be back up and running ASAP.”

“We are sorry it has come to such an abrupt end, but is out of our hands.”

A spokesperson from Grillstock Bath wished us to pass on their thanks to our readers, for all of their support over the last three and a half years.

It’s believed the site on Brunel Square is being taken over by Franco Manca, a pizza restaurant with locations across the country.
