Popular Chinese takeaway Magic Wok on the High Street in Twerton is to remain open, following concerns the business would have to close due to planned redevelopment of their building.
The owners of the Magic Wok have agreed a new deal to continue trading on the High Street following concerns they would have to vacate their unit by the end of the year.
Mr and Mrs Tang, who have run the Magic Wok for 19 years, have agreed a new three-year lease with landlords Greenacre Capital.
Greenacre Capital took ownership of the row of shops last year and is working with Bath City FC to redevelop part of Twerton Park and rejuvenate Twerton’s High Street.
Greenacre intends to allocate the Magic Wok a business unit in the new High Street shopping scheme when it is complete. However, the takeaway may have to temporarily vacate the unit during planned works.
The new lease provides the Magic Wok with greater flexibility should they find alternative premises within the city and wish to move. Greenacre have also offered to help with the process.
A spokesman for Greenacre said “We are delighted that we have been able to help secure the presence of such a popular local business on Twerton High Street.
“It is our intention to encourage the vibrancy of the area and in the long term attract new retail offers to Twerton.
“We look forward to working with Mr and Mrs Tang and keeping them part of the Twerton community.”
